Q: What is Spacewolff?

A: Spacewolff is an online marketplace connecting advertisers and owners of ad space. Anyone can sign up to sell ad space or place ads, whether it’s small brick and mortar business, a freelancer or a large publishing house, the site is designed to make advertising easy and accessible. For advertisers, it enables you to advertise in multiple places and with greater efficiency with just a few clicks. For space owners, we equip you with the tools to sell ad space or excess space. The platform is peer-to-peer, which means advertisers can place ads directly with space owners. You can learn more about Spacewolff on our About page.

Q: How does it work?

A: To use the platform as either an advertiser or a space owner, first you need to sign up. Once you fill out a user profile, you can create mediums, list ad space, and place ads, all from one account. To sell ad space, you create mediums, which identify the type of space (for example, a magazine or a podcast). Then, you create ad spaces for those mediums (for example, a quarter page ad or a 20 second script space) and list the price. At this point, your ad space profile page, your mediums and your ad space listings will all be accessible in the marketplace. To place an ad, simply search for the type of people you’re trying to reach in the marketplace. Once you find an ad space you like, select the dates, upload an advertisement and apply. The ad space owner will be notified and has 72 hours to accept or deny the ad. If the space owner accepts, it receives the ad and is obligated to place it. If it ignores the request or denies it, the funds are released.

Q: How much does it cost to use the platform?

A: Using the platform is free. We collect a small percentage of each transaction.

Q: What cities are you in?

A: Spacewolff does not have any geographic limitations; our users are nationwide and soon from around the world. Our headquarters are in Miami, and we have offices in St. Louis, so naturally, you’ll see a high concentration of spaces listed for sale at these locations in our early stage.

Q: Do I need to register to use Spacewolff?

A: Yes, we do require all users to create an account. However, signing up takes fewer than 3 minutes and is a really simple process.

Q: What types of businesses advertise on Spacewolff?

A: All types of business. Because our marketplace enables businesses to reach their intended audience with great specificity, we’ve attracted everything from Fortune 500’s to new freelancers.

Q: What types of businesses sell ad space on Spacewolff?

A: All types, and even some individuals who don’t own businesses! Whether it’s a huge publisher or an individual willing to wear a t-shirt, the platform equips anyone and any business with an ad sales team.

Q: What if I want to sell my ad space and place ads? Do I create two accounts?

A: One account can both place ads and sell ad space. We believe that if you have something to advertise, you have space to sell. In other words, if you have a business, you have an audience, and therefore space to sell, whether it’s on your newsletter, website, or even car!

Q: My website has low traffic and my newsletter doesn’t have a ton of readers. Can I sell the ad space on either?

A: Yes. We encourage users to sell any type of ad space, even if there is a small audience. That space is valuable to someone trying to reach your audience. We recommend you set a low price in the beginning and adjust it as the market demands. The more space you sell, the more money you make, the more ads you can place, the more your audience grows, and the more money you can make from your ad space, which just gives you more money to spend on advertisements. It’s a great cycle, no matter how small or large your business is.

Q: How does the referral system work?

A: When you sign up, you’ll receive a unique referral code. If you share this code with a friend who uses it to sign up, then lists ad space and an advertiser places an ad with your friend, you’ll get a $25 credit. If you share this code with a friend who signs up and places an ad, you’ll get a $10 credit. You could make $35, just by telling your friends. That’s free money for advertising.

FAQs About Selling Ad Space

Q: How are the prices of ad spaces determined?

A: The prices are determined by you. As a marketplace, we don’t tell you how much to charge. If you’re just getting started and you’ve never sold ad space before, we recommend pricing it pretty low. For example, if you host a podcast, try selling a 15 second sponsorship clip for $5 and see how many advertisement applications you get. If you don’t get any, then lower the price, if you’re getting a lot of ad applications, then continue to raise the price as time goes on, until you find out the price that works.

Q: When will I receive payment?

A: Upon accepting the ad, funds will be transferred within 48 hours.

Q: What if I’m not able to use the advertisements I’ve committed to?

A: Contact us and we’ll try to resolve it with the advertiser. Note that the payment made by the advertiser will be returned.

Q: What if I want to add a medium that isn’t listed yet?

A: We are trying to add new mediums as our market demands them. Our goal is to enable our ad space owners to sell any type of ad space, but our focus right now is to make sure our users looking to advertise have a great experience and understanding of the landscape. If you’d like us to add a medium, please send an email to info@spacewolff.com with the subject “New medium” and we will do our best to accommodate you or advise you of the approximate date it will be offered.

Q: What’s the difference between a medium and a space listing?

A: A medium exists primarily to host ad spaces. For example, a medium would be a magazine, and the ad spaces would be the inside cover, half-page ads, quarter-page ads, and more. Advertisers apply for the ad spaces, not the medium. The medium describes the audience, the topics covered and the distribution frequency, and the ad spaces will be different prices, sizes, and file formats for the ad spaces of that medium. A user can have an unlimited number of mediums, and mediums can have an unlimited number of ad spaces.

Q: What if I want to sell ad space for more than one company?

A: Right now, you’ll have to create an account for each business. We will be rolling out accounts optimized for agencies in the end of 2017, which will enable you to manage ad sales for multiple companies from just one account.
